The Riviera

Torquay's sophisticated style stems from its origins as a fashionable haven for visitors in the last century. It's waterfront is the focus of life in the town. Here you'll find the palm lined promenade, a lively harbour and an international marina yet within minutes of the town centre, there are beautiful beaches easily accessible on foot, by car or by bus.

Agatha Christie, the worlds most famous mystery and crime writer, was born and lived in Torquay. Discover more about her by following the ‘Agatha Christie Mile', which leads you to the places she knew and enjoyed in Edwardian Torquay.

With many beaches to choose from, and 2,000 acres of award winning public parks and gardens to explore, the English Riviera really is one of the most beautiful holiday destinations around.

With all the glamour and style of a Mediterranean resort, the English Riviera really does live up to its name, and with one of the best climates in Britain, it's holiday time all the time. Whenever you visit Torbay, you will always find a busy calendar of events to choose from.
